In case you were following my Twitter…
This is what being scholarly looks like…
It was just as boring for me to be scholarly tonight as it is for you to look at this picture. I feel your pain.
Last night…
I went out for drinks with two of my best friends. What follows is a really low quality photo of the most delicious specialty pomegranate martini of my life. This is the second of the two I had, and the empty glass of the first can be found behind the full glass of the second. The lighting was really bad, and I was using my phone camera, so that’s why the photo turned out so terribly.
I also must mention that if you hear the phrase “Madoff Medical Scheme” in reference to insurance companies any time soon, it was coined yesterday by my good friend, Terry. I want him to get the credit he is due.

Catching up on life…
I’m only a few days behind. Srsly. At least I took the photos…
Last Friday (9/11):
Big trucks tearing down a bridge. I wish I would have had pictures of going out with my friends who went drinking with me that night because it was awesome and completely luck that we were all in the same place at the same time; however, I will just have to live without since I did not take any pictures that night.
Last Saturday (9/12):
I wish I would have had a picture of my friend sleeping in my bed in my blue camo shorts. He looked really funny. Unfortunately, I have no picture of that, so this picture of a really huge mushroom and my foot will have to do. Mind you, this picture is deceiving since my foot was much closer to the camera than the mushroom. The mushroom was at least 2 1/2 feet wide. The biggest mushroom I’ve ever seen. Srsly.
Sunday (9/13):
I really like this “Dead End” sign. It makes it seem as if you drive down that road you will die a very painful death.
Monday (9/14):
This is a potato. I think it looks like a video game controller. It was fun to pretend that it actually was a video game controller for life… It didn’t control anything.

Mangos!!!
I found dried mangos on sale for less than two dollars a package!!! I love mangos, but usually can’t have them because they are more than double that. I know… random… but I’ve learned not to be picky about the things that brighten up my day.
I also had an AMAZING horseback ride today. I can’t even begin to describe it. I wish I had a picture. It would be at least a thousand words.

Your wish is my command.
Today, one of my coworkers wished aloud that we had scrubs with our logo and our names on them. I quickly snapped a picture of our logo and told her I would make her one.
I really enjoy being a genie.

Six years ago, I graduated from high school. At the end of my senior year of FFA, my advisor awarded me with the “Outstanding FFA Member” award. I was supposed to get a plaque engraved with my name on it, and my advisor assured me that he would have it engraved and get it to me ASAP.
Somewhere along the line, I completely forgot about the award and the plaque. Six years is a long time, and it slipped out of my mind. A couple of months ago, my FFA advisor passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. He was a good guy, and I’m thankful that I got to work with him all those years ago.
I had lost touch with him, but he never forgot me. Yesterday, my mom brought me a plaque that says “Outstanding FFA Member Award” and it is engraved with my name. According to the High School principal, my advisor’s biggest goal for the summer was to get those plaques engraved. Maybe it was because he knew something was going to happen to him… maybe he just realized that 6 years was quite a long “as soon as possible.”
Like they always say, it’s better late than never. I was really happy to finally get my plaque. Even if it was 6 years late.

I did not forget 13 or 14…
Srsly, I did not forget yesterday’s photo. I just didn’t get home until 3 a.m. from the photo’s venue and went straight to bed. No, it was not a bar or anything like that. It was an honest-to-goodness circa 1951 drive-in movie theatre. The historic Barco drive-in in Lamar to be exact. Unfortunately, it was really too dark to get a good picture, but I did take this crappy one (There are some better photos of it in this flickr stream).
I think it’s of one of the previews, but I can’t remember. If you squint your eye’s just right, you can kind of make out the line of cars there underneath the screen.
Today’s picture features a set of keys. My set of keys to be exact.
I was at work today, and I tossed my key’s over to that table, but instead of landing on the top, they bounced off of the edge and I thought they were going to fall on the floor. Amazingly, one of the keys got caught in the edge of the drawer there, and there was no crash as gravity took it’s course. It was really crazy.
Now, I am tired, and shall retire to bed.

Long story…
I took this photo with every intention of blogging that it has been raining for two days straight. It turned out that within an hour of taking the picture, and before I was able to blog about it, it stopped raining. Imagine that.
So then I decided to take a photo of my little pup with my real camera, but I didn’t have the card in, so I couldn’t get the photo off of my camera. After that, I took a this picture, and I guess it’s technically today’s photo, since the rain photo fell through.
The problem with this photo is that I don’t really like it. I think JoJo looks kind of weird. I guess when we’re riding in the car she’s all business. She does love going in the car. I don’t know if you can tell in this picture, but by this time (three hours after the first picture) the sun was shining like crazy.
In conclusion, I don’t like either of today’s photos, but nonetheless they are today’s photos, so I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.

Night Photos… (11)
When I lived in the light, I used to love taking nighttime photos. Since I’ve been back home in the dark, I’ve been trying to take some decent night photos. The last few times I have tried, It’s been too dark, and they haven’t turned out. Tonight, as I came in from feeding my little Trooper, I realized that I could use the back patio light to take a photo of the goldfish pond that’s just outside our back door.
This photo turned out nicely. I consider this “my” goldfish pond because I dug the hole for it back when I was in high school. Seems like eons ago.
I’m off for some reading time now. George R. R. Martin is calling to me.

30 days (10)
I spent my day off working. Since they got three new horses at the ranch, and they have 30 days to decide whether or not they want to keep them, I’ve been busy riding horses. I rode for 6 hours today. Tomorrow, I’ll go out after I get finished at the clinic, and I’m supposed to ride a lot this weekend, too. I don’t mind. So far, all the pretty horses are also well mannered and fun to ride. Hopefully, they work out, because they are in need of good riding horses. They’ve lost three horses for various reasons in the last month alone. Before the new kids on he block, they were down to one riding mule.
These are my three charges. The one in the front drinking from the red bucket is Lucille. I call her Lucy for short. The one in the next pen is Pawnee, and the one in the very back is Chief. That would be my saddle sitting in the floor on the left.
Tomorrow, I ride Pawnee. Hopefully, he turns out to be as nice as the other two.
Love and horses…

Book Club, anyone?
A friend and I started a book club (It needs a name, if anyone can come up with something catchy.), and it has a secret handshake and everything. This is the first book we’re reading.
Now, I’ve read this book before, so I know that it is the first book of the best book series ever written. The other club member doesn’t know that yet. I can’t wait to see her fall in love.
I also wish that I could travel into the future, so that I could read the rest of the series that hasn’t been written yet. I’m so antsy for the next book.
Read this book. You’ll thank me. I promise.

Job Hazard: Cat Baths
Despite the fact that I love bathing cats (because they get hilariously mad at me and often prefer to go crazy than submit to the gentle caresses of warm soapy water), sometimes the cats make me pay. Today was one of those days.
You will notice that the photo quality is much better today than usual. I couldn’t get a good picture of my poor little pinky without the use of my real camera. I actually wanted to take a picture of the huge, red sun setting on the way home today, but the photo was shitty so I deleted it. It was beautiful, though. You really missed out.
In other news, those of you who have sent me emails in the last two days… I will reply, and I apologize for not replying tonight, but as soon as I finish typing this entry, I’m going to bed. I’m beat.
Also, another noteworthy topic…
If I had my History Blog (which I will have at some point, it just hasn’t happened yet), I would make a post about this article from today that commemorates the 70th anniversary of WWII which is tomorrow… It’s a gallery of propaganda posters about the war. Some of them are absolutely amazing. Crazy amazing.

I bid thee well…
