My birthday is in December, but…

…my parents bought my present today.

Unfortunately, I can’t have them until my birthday.  I love them though, and I really need them since my old riding boots have a big hole in the sole that lets in water.

Sunday Project

The thermometer outside finally made it past 50 degrees by about noon today, so I lugged this old card table up from the basement for a painting session.  After three hours, and a whole lot of painstakingly taping off the different areas, here is the finished product:

It matches mom’s workroom in the basement, and now she has an extra table to spread her stuff out onto when she does her scrapbooking and card making.  I think it looks awesome.

King Freckles of the Basement

101009_2109[01]

I finally brought all of my books from my old house, and as I put up the bookshelf this evening, His Majesty the King of the Basement supervised from the top of the weight lifting machine.  I shall christen said weight machine, His Majesty’s throne.  No one else ever uses it.

Found

$2.38, a receipt for a book of stamps, a 4th place ribbon that I didn’t win, a ticket stub for Twilight, a tube of Abreva, a cross charm I once found on the ground, and a sore throat lozenge.

These are the things I found from last year in the pocket of my winter coat.

Silver lining…

Yesterday was the most miserable dreary day I’ve seen in a long time, but then I found these really pretty pink flowers.  I’m sure they were weeds, but they were pretty nonetheless.

Fwd: fwd: fwd: No Subject

My email is set up to send any message that has “fwd:” in the subject automatically to Trash.  However, since my sister erases the “fwd:” from the subject line, it tricks me into reading her joke emails.  This was what she sent today:

I would like to know who this Regan character is to see if he has anything else that is worth laughing at.  I tried looking him up, but there are lots of Regans online, and I have no idea which he is.

Does anyone know who this might be?

Mr. Violet’s friends made it home safely.

100_2415

No thanks to Mother Nature.  It rained and rained and rained and rained all the way home.  I thought I was going to have to build an ark.  It wouldn’t have had to been a big ark since it was just me and the kids… I mean, plants.

The dress in the window was lonely…

That is, until the magic shoes appeared to complete the outfit.

I stumbled upon this downtown last night.  Not sure who left the shoes there, or why they would have left them in the first place.

What my family looks like around the dinner table…

100609_1742[01]

Just pretend that they are people.

My cat reminds me of a horse…

I sometimes grow grass for my terror of a cat.  It would seem that he enjoys the grass as it is almost immediately devoured.

Does that not look like a horse at feeding time?  Example follows:

Told you.

Catching up…

9/18/09

I didn’t know that cannas made these weird pod-like things on their flowers.  Apparently they do.  Since then, I’ve dug up all the bulbs for wintering in the basement.

My little brother plays baseball.  He’s also one of the team grunts, and is expected to do all the hard labor, such as dragging the field.

9/20/09

My little sister and I were waiting for my little brother (who happens to be bigger than both of us), and we were taking turns shuffling these playing cards.  We both thought it would be cool to take a picture mid-shuffle.  It totally is.

9/21/09

It rained really hard.  The rain started coming in through the roof at work in the first exam room.  Right in front of where the pet’s owners sit to talk to the doctor.  What is funny about that is that he talked to them as if there wasn’t water dripping from the ceiling.  He totally pretended that it didn’t even exist.  All the while the owners were uncomfortable because the water was almost dripping on them.

I finally got the parts to start my indoor plant growing station in my basement dungeon.

9/23/09

Two pictures for this day.  The first is of the big head kitty sitting on the tack room ceiling at the ranch.  He always climbs up there, and to get down he actually uses a ladder.  I kid you not.  I’ll try to take a picture of that next.  The second is of the big lake.  It was so still that day I almost got a perfect reflection in the water.  The picture really doesn’t do it justice.

9/24/09

My plant growing station is halfway complete.  Mr. Violet is the only plant up there right now, but soon there will be two others.  Maybe three.  Freckles was investigating.

9/25/09

I caught JoJo (My old grumpy dalmation) playing with Scruffy.  She usually pretends to hate him.  Now I know it’s just a show.

9/26/09

I went to the dirt track races.  Srsly.  It was loud, cold, and almost fun.  Only almost because it was both loud and cold.

9/27/09

I decided that I needed to add a second light to the growing station.  I didn’t think I was getting all the colors of light Mr. Violet needed to thrive.  He’s doing really well now.

9/28/09

This is part of a new project of mine.  I’m sure you recognize the setting.  It’s where I sometimes eat lunch.  I thought it would be fun to take a picture every time I eat there to see how it changes over time.

9/30/09

There is a bullfrog that lives in the goldfish pond.  He’s down there by the pump.

10/1/09

I made myself a fake tattoo and painted it on my arm.  It fooled many, many people, including the middle-aged, twice-my-age biker dude who hit on me.

10/2/09

I ate lunch here today.

100109_1234[00]

10/3/09

When left to my own devices, dinner often looks like breakfast.  Especially when there is scrapple in the refrigerator.  I love scrapple.

100209_1910[00]

10/4/09

I found a skull collar for Trooper.  Now he matches my shoes.

100309_1841[00]

10/05/09

I got Mr. Violet down for watering and fertilization today.  He looks great.  Basement living is good for him, I guess.  Hopefully, he’ll start blooming soon.  It’s been almost a year since he’s flowered.

100409_2009[00]

That concludes the major catching up session.  Please forgive me.  I will try to do better in the future.  Taking the pictures is easy.  It’s the blogging them that is tedious work.

Old, dead mule…

image

This is clearly a photo of a mule getting it’s head blown off.  Seriously.  According to Giz, it’s the product of an 1878 tech demo for a camera.
