Live Writer and Ramblings

100_1244

Trying out Windows Live Writer.  Kevin Purdy recommended it as one of the top ten blogging tools today on Lifehacker.  I’m really not sure how I feel about it yet, but it seems to be working well.  It will be especially good if I don’t actually have to go to Blogger to compose my entries.  I think I’ll like it a lot.

I’ve been watching Hallmark movies all day long.  Well, between reading and playing in the snow.  My mind has turned to mush.  Anyway, I’ll give Windows Live Writer a week to see if I like it  very much, and if I do, I’ll certainly let you know.

Hmm… That dude never got back to me about Crystal Head Vodka.  I thought it was probably some sort of ruse.  I’m still sad about the vodka though; I’d really like some.  I think I’m going to order my glass flasks this week.  I’m dying to make my Skittles vodka.  I’m especially excited about the yellow flavor.  The yellow ones are my favorite.  Hopefully, it works as well as I hope this blogging tool works.

It’s time for cake now.  I made it.  Hopefully, it turns out delicious.

Google? The anti-Christ?

I really love the fact that everyone blames the impending computer
apocolypse on Google. I like this guy's theory; however, it doesn't
seem that plausible to me. If that were going to happen, I think it
already would have. People like/buy brand names. They trust the name.
That is why Linux will never win over microsoft or mac.

From USA Today:
Windows 7 is coming. So what?

Google too big?

This is an interesting article on Google's dominance on the web. Because their product is so good and because everyone loves them, Google will soon have to start fighting anti-trust laws because they will have the monopoly on the services they offer. To me that seems crazy. It's gotta suck to be so loved that it causes you to be illegal. I wish I were loved too much.

Edit: I forgot the link.

Vodka, Chrome, Ebay, and Rejection

I would like to make Skittles infused vodka as seen here: Skittles Vodka Tutorial. The only problem is that I'm not quite willing to spend thirty dollars for these cool glass flasks: Cool glass flasks. I will eventually convince myself that I need them, but it won't be for a couple of weeks at least. I'll update when I finally do get them and "taste the rainbow."

Speaking of vodka, I never found my Crystal Head Vodka. Those Californians are lucky. I'm super jealous.

Moving on... I decided to download Google Chrome again, to enable me to log into two separate Google accounts at the same time. I waited it out forever as I was sure that my beloved Firefox would eventually get an extension to do just that (they kind of had one with their IE Tab, but that doesn't seem to be working anymore), but they have yet to do it, and I got desperate. It's just a minor annoyance, but enough of an annoyance for me to finally do something about it. Google Chrome seems fine. It's no Firefox for sure, but it's alright.

Ebay news: I sold my broken iPod. The winning bid was for 30 dollars which is super exciting since I was only expecting it to go for 10 at the most, but the jackass buyer hasn't paid for it yet. Another one of those minor annoyances. He'd better pay it. It's the rules. I've yet to get my refund for the purchase I made that arrived broken. The chick that sold it to me is really starting to piss me off. She keeps telling me she will send it, but then doesn't do it. It's not like it takes any amount of time to send me money via Paypal, probably a minute at most. I got sob story the other day about how she'd been too busy. Did I mention that it would only take a minute? Soo annoying.

Last, but not least... two letters of rejection arrived in the mail for me yesterday. In a nutshell, Purdue "Unfortunately we are not able to offer you admission to our graduate program."; UW-Madison "I regret to inform you that the Department of History has not accepted your application for admission to the Graduate Program." That brings the grand total of rejection to three. I'm highly doubtful that any kind of doctoral program is in my immediate future. It's really disappointing. I blame it on the economy.

Now, I will try to write on my thesis; however, it seems so pointless if I am not going to be a doctor one day.

Does anyone have any preference as to what I sell next on ebay? I will get rich on ebay if I can't go to grad school. That's my response.

Apparently, people will buy anything.

I listed my 1g iPod mini on ebay clearly labeled that it was broken and no refunds would be granted because it's broken. People are still bidding on it. I can't imagine why they want it. It does not work. You can't even turn it on. It seems really stupid to me.

If any of you kind people want to bid on said broken iPod. Feel free. There are about 2 hours left on the auction.

In case you were wondering what I do all day...

These are screen captures of the print preview of my thesis. First picture is the first 30 pages. Second is the last 26. The home strech is upon me. I will finish this chapter, if not tomorrow, then the day after. Then I only have to write one more chapter and a conclusion. Then I will be done. I'm sick of writing. I'm sick of looking at pages. I'm sick of it all.

She looks so innocent...

... but hiding behind those fluffy, yellow ears are devil horns. I promise. I took this picture last night after the electricity went out, but before Charlotte, here, pissed all over my favorite hoodie. Seriously, Charlotte's other name is devil kitty. To make it all worse, I put the hoodie on and wore it for a few minutes before I realized what had happened. Was I mad? Mad does not even begin to describe my feelings on the matter.

Pottery Photos

This is an example of the photos I took yesterday for my Research Assistantship. I gather that they are going to form the basis for an online database of pottery sherds. It's pretty exciting. Especially when the professor in charge told me that my "photos are fantastic!" I am quite fond of my little photos. They turned out a lot better than I thought they would.

Drive Thru Liquor Store

Before they put in the new four lane, I drove past this liquor store at least once a week. I love this liquor store. I've never been inside (It scares me a bit, as I tend to think the rednecks are going to eat me or something.), but it cracks me up every time I see it.

I've never actually seen anyone go through the drive through, but I bet they are busy on Saturday night.
